Senior Project Designer with Retail Experience

Senior Designer or Architect with strong design sense for retail and hospitality space

Reports To:  Partner-in-Charge or Studio Director

• Reviews design and technical drawing of other more junior designers
• Review of engineering drawings to ensure they comply with design solution
• Works with technical staff to resolve inconsistencies in drawings
• Researches and selects fixtures and finishes to use for projects
• Obtain client approval and ensure integration into overall design
• Produces, reviews and finalizes space plans for projects
• Extensive knowledge of detailing and finalizes details on projects
• Develops and delivers overall design and furniture packages
• assist with support for field surveys
• Manages overall design budget with project manager
• Ensures adherence to set budget and immediately informs PM and/or client of any potential variances to the budget
• Oversees tasks and provide feedback on work product
• Organizes and conducts client interviews to determine space needs and requirement


• Graduate of architecture or design school: equivalent experience may be substituted
• 6+ years’ experience in corporate interior design projects

  • Experience in retail and/or hospitality design and permitting throughout the countr
  • Experience in spa / fitness design a plus
  • Extensive experience with client communications – responsiveness is critical
  • Ability to explore creative solutions for lighting and finish application to create vibrant activated experiences for the client
  • Technical understanding of documentation and detailing, ability to self perform as well as oversee technical development of jr staff
  • Ability to manage 2-3 jr level staff at any given time
  • Revit 2019, Adobe Suite, excel, bluebeam
  • Strong knowledge of design process, furniture, finishes, materials, color selections and specifications.
  • Skilled at sketching and rendering
  • Strong interior architecture detailing skills
  • Extensive knowledge of CDs and procedures
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, codes and ADA requirements
  • Experience with contract administration
  • Strong proficiency with REVIT, AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrato
  • Strong presentation and graphic communication
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead staff through a combination of direct authority and subject matter expertise
  • Working knowledge of budget preparation and proven ability to manage projects within budgetary constraints
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
